MSU has been registered as a "Dark Sky Conservation Area"

The Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management and the Walai Rukhavej Research Institute, Mahasarakham University, received a plaque and certificate of recognition from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in collaboration with the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) under the “AMAZING DARK SKY IN THAILAND #Season 4” project. The award ceremony was held at the TAT Headquarters in Bangkok on July 23, 2025.

On this occasion, Walai Rukhavej Botanical Garden, Mahasarakham University, was officially registered as a Dark Sky Suburb, one of only 16 designated locations across the country. This recognition marks a proud achievement for the university, reflecting its commitment to environmental conservation and the development of natural tourism areas aligned with integrative learning and research.

This certification represents a significant step forward in promoting astronomical tourism in Northeastern Thailand. Tourists and enthusiasts are invited to experience the beauty of the night sky, learn about the stars, and enjoy the natural atmosphere of the Walai Rukhavej Botanical Garden all year round.
