Mahasarakham University have a policy on preventing and reducing marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities. Mahasarakham University has 3 main sources of wastewater in MSU policy, as follows:
1) Wastewater from laboratories: laboratories in the Faculty of Environment, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Technology, and the Central Laboratory.
2) Wastewater from various buildings: the Faculties, student dormitories, and staff dormitories.
3) Wastewater from canteens: Talad Noi canteen, building D canteen, the canteen in the City campus area, Sutthavej hospital canteen, the demonstration secondary school, and the demonstration primary school.
Mahasarakham University collects and treats wastewater using physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove impurities such as organic matter, acids, alkalis, solids, suspended solids, oil, grease, color, and odor. The water is then disinfected, and its quality is measured before reuse. Water that has been treated and meets the established standards is utilized for watering plants and washing road surfaces.
The Buildings and Facilities Division, in collaboration with faculty of Environment, the faculty of Science, the Faculty of Technology, and the Central Laboratory, has implemented the “Disposal of Chemicals from Laboratories and Deteriorated Chemicals 2024” project to create safety in the laboratories, reduce the risk of accumulation of hazardous chemicals, and manage chemicals in accordance with the university's safety and environmental standards.
