Mahasarakham University and Province Unite to Restore Chi Long Water Source in Honor of His Majesty the King’s 70th Birthday
On April 6, 2023, Mahasarakham University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Prayook Srivilai, President of Mahasarakham University, along with university executives and staff, joined in a project aimed at restoring and addressing water issues at Chi Long (Kud Daeng) water source. The event, held in honor of His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of his 70th birthday on July 28, 2023, took place at the Ban Kerng Operation Station, Walai Rukhavej Botanical Research Institute, Mahasarakham University. The event was officiated by Mr. Kiattisak Trongsiri, Governor of Mahasarakham Province.
Ms. Pranee Wongbuth, head of the Mahasarakham provincial office, emphasized that the Ministry of Interior has encouraged all provinces to continually carry out environmental conservation activities. The goal is to engage and educate residents near water sources to foster care and volunteerism to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of these areas.
Supported by the Mahasarakham Provincial Land Development Office, Department of Fisheries Maha Sarakham Provincial Office, Maha Sarakham Provincial Agricultural Office, the Kerng Sub-district Administrative Organization, and Mahasarakham University, the event featured various activities: weed removal around the water source, composting from weeds, planting organic vegetables using organic fertilizer, planting native trees, growing kitchen garden vegetables, releasing fish to increase food resources for the community, and landscaping around the Chee Long water area.
Participants included representatives from government agencies, private sectors, local administrative organizations, state enterprises, village heads, 904 volunteer spirit representatives, and community representatives who all joined hands to make this event a success.
