World wetland day 2017, Celebration in Maha Sarakham province, Thailand

               Wednesday, February 8th, 2017. In order raise awareness of importance of wetlands and their ecological-cultural function in Mahasarakham province, Walai rukhavej Botanical Research Institute of Mahasarakham University will hold the wetland festival in the name of “7th World wetland day Celebration (2017)”. The festival will be held at Bankerng Station where the surrounding areas have characteristics of low flooded plain forest that is one of the most fragile type of wetland ecosystem in Northeast Thailand. The theme of this event is Disaster Risk Reduction. This event is organized in close cooperation with Mahasarakham University, local school, Bankerng sub-district administration and Section of Natural Resources and Environment of Mahasarakham province.  An estimated of 600 participants is expected to involve including students, teachers, officials, local leaders and citizens in Mahasarakham province.
